The year was 1993. The Berlin Wall had fallen, and the city was suddenly choking with traffic. Dipl. Ing. Sieghart Straka had a vision: a short-distance vehicle, half the weight of a bike and easily stowable. So the 'Ciro Compact Roller' was born, an advanced high-tech vehicle for convenient city travel at up to bicycle speeds. The appeal of the concept centres around excellent cornering ability, and foldability within seconds.

The all-purpose model is the Ciro Magic. There is also the Ciro Terrific range: hot slalom scooters with a wide choice of wheel types: High-Speed, fat Tractor Wheels or Super Slicks. Ciros are produced in Germany. The manufacturers also make finely-engineered accessories for the Windcheetah recumbent trike, which they import from England (and which is featured in this Encycleopedia). On demand they will also adapt Windcheetahs for riders with special needs.

The Scooters' steel frame is fitted with 16" (305) wheels and a front brake, and the overall weight is around 10kg. Basket and lights are optional extras, and the recommended price in Austria is 4300 Schillings. From March '99, a new limited edition will be available direct from the manufacturers, with a saddle. The price should be around ATS5400. Prices will vary worldwide.
